IMG_4665 (003)Saxon Tennis duo Jillian and Loryn Studer were honored tonight as the Girls Tennis Players of the Year at the Mid-Valley Sports Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Statesman Journal.   The doubles partners and twin sisters beat out McNary’s Hannah Childress and West Salem’s Anya Gerasimova in the inaugural award ceremony.  The award was one of nine that Saxon athletes and coaches took home from the star-studded evening.  NFL Hall of Famer and Dancing with the Stars Champion Jerry Rice joined former Oregon Duck and NFL quarterback Joey Harrington, as well as the Statesman Journal’s Capi Lynn as the presenters for the evening.  The award capped a huge season both for the junior Studers and the Saxon Women’s Tennis Program, having finished 2nd at Districts as a duo and as a team.   A full recap can be found on the SJ website: http://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/sports/2016/06/08/first-mid-valley-sports-awards-successful-event/85585018/.
