Senior girl’s tennis standout, Jessa Miller, received the Rick Rasmussen Tennis Scholarship today at the Saxon Senior Awards Ceremony.  A 4-year letter winner, Miller distinguished herself both on and off the court also receiving Salutatorian honors at the ceremony.  This scholarship signifies Jessa as the most valuable female senior varsity tennis player by demonstrating good sportsmanship and citizenship, and serving as an inspiration to her teammates despite suffering a near-season ending shoulder injury this year.  Jessa plans to attend the University of Puget Sound in the fall and hopes to play on the Logger tennis squad.

The Rick Rasmussen Tennis Scholarship has been established as a permanent memorial to Eric W. “Rick” Rasmussen who was a 1987 graduate of South Salem High School and a member of the 1985 Saxon’s Tennis Team.  Rick was accidentally shot May 4th, 1990 while a student at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
