South Salem is 10-3 (12-6). Sprague is 9-4 (16-4).

Ryan Brown had a dominant 7-strikeout performance on the mound as the Saxons beat Sprague, 6-0, to move into sole possession of 2nd place in the GVC as teams head into the final week of league play.

Sean Alvarado led off the game by reaching on an error. After a popout, Aaron Zavala drove him home with a double off the left field wall to give South Salem the 1-0 lead.

Over the course of the next five and a half innings, Brown and the Saxons held the Olympians scoreless.

In the top of the 7th, with the Saxons looking for some insurance runs, their offense blew the doors open. Collin Vogt and Sean Alvarado started the frame with back-to-back singles. After a popout, Zavala singled to right to score Vogt and move Alvarado to third. Brown followed with an RBI single of his own, making it 3-0. Gavin Fredinburg then reached on an error to load the bases, setting up a walk to Kaiden Doten to plate South’s fourth run. Then, with a 2-0 count and the bases juiced, Elijah Enomoto-Haole laced a double to the left-center gap, scoring Brown and Fredinburg to extend the lead to six runs. After a pitching change, Sprague got a couple of groundouts to stop the damage.

Sprague would eventually load the bases in the 7th, but Gavin Fredinburg entered with 2 outs and the bases loaded and struck out Max Long looking to end the game and seal the 6-0 victory.
