The Saxon women’s tennis team hosted the McKay Royal Scots at Bush Park this afternoon, opting to start the match an hour early in order to avoid the approaching rain. The decision proved effective for the Saxons as the eighth and final match finished just as the rain started to fall. Though each match was competitive and hard fought, South continued their winning ways, finishing the match 8-0.
Down a few varsity players due to Spring Break, Abi Hernandez (12) and Claire Audley (10) stepped up big, winning their first varsity matches. Audley was paired with freshman Lucy Partridge on the doubles side. It was Partridge’s second varsity win in as many days. Freshman Abby Fedor joined Selbie Christensen (11) to play in and win her first varsity match on the doubles side. Lindsay Flood (12) and Kellie McSween (11) continued their success, as did juniors Catherine Hu and Meg Takara.
On the singles side, senior Kate Paluska filled the #1 Singles spot for the first time in her career. She was followed by Chloe Elmore (11), Madison Hadden (10), and the aforementioned Hernandez.
JV matches initially started but were soon rained out.
The Saxons are off until Monday, April 3rd when they return from break to finish their match against West Salem.
