South Salem’s women’s tennis team received huge performances from all 12 players in their 7-1 win against South Eugene today.  Three of those wins came from players new to the varsity ranks.  Sophomore Hannah Leichty (7-5, 6-1) won her singles match while freshman Esha Puri partnered with returner and captain Kellie McSween to win 6-4, 6-4 in the doubles match.  Sophomore Julia Da Silva and her partner, Lucy Partridge closed out the night by beating their opponents 6-2, 2-6, 1-0.

Also on the doubles side, Meg Takara and Selbie Christensen won their match 6-4, 6-1 and Amy Edelblute and Maddy Hadden followed suit 6-2, 7-6 sealing the team win with the fifth overall win of the night.

On the singles side, sophomore Abby Fedor picked up where she left off last season by topping her opponent 6-0, 6-2.  Mariana Rey-Rosa returned from a season-ending knee injury by winning 6-0, 7-5.  Finally, Catherine Hu lost a tough battle in her match 2-6, 4-6.

The Saxons head to St. Mary’s Academy to take on the Blues this Thursday.  The Blues finished 10th in State last year and return most of their team.
