The Saxons got off to a slow start against Summit High, falling behind 6-2 before senior night was saved with a 20-6 win.
After falling behind the Saxons scored six in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead for good in the final regular season home game.
South accumulated 16 hits in the game ended by run-rule after five innings. The offensive stars for the Saxons were Naomi Galanti and Delaney Keith. Galanti had three hits – including two doubles – in four at-bats, driving in three runs, and scoring two. Keith also had three hits in four at-bats with two doubles, scoring four runs with two RBI. Bella Fleener had two hits in three at-bats, scoring four and driving in three with a triple. Alivia Benavidez added two hits and drove in three. Emma Cordero had two hits in four times to the plate, including a double, and drove in two. Bella Wolf capped off the night with a two run homer in the bottom of the 4th.
The big offensive night allowed South’s lone senior, Brooke Leger, to go out on a winning note.
