Coming into the game the Wildcats had only allowed 12 total runs in six games. The Saxons, however, immediately put three runs on the board, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. After an error and two batters hit by pitch, Naomi Galanti produced a big single to drive in two. A resulting error by the right fielder cleared the bases.
Frosh pitcher Rowan Thompson battled a very deep and tough Westview lineup, shutting out the Wildcats in the top of the first and gave up a run in the second and two in the third before the Saxons lost the lead in the fourth inning. Thompson struck out four and gave up six hits in her four innings.
South added a run in the fifth inning on a single by Alivia Benavidez, some daring base running by Hannah Tapusoa, and a sacrifice fly by Emma Cordero.
Offensively the Saxons were led by Benavidez with two hits and Galanti (two RBI) and Cordero (1 RBI).
Next game for the Saxons: Friday, April 30th at 4:30.
