Tennis Duo Named Sports and Breakfast Club Athletes of the Week

Tennis Clinches GVC League Championship

South Salem’s Women’s Tennis Team clinched the GVC dual-match championship yesterday afternoon, beating West Salem 8-0.  The Saxons moved to 11-1 on the season, 7-1 in league play. Tennis Award Winners Meet Namesake

Saxon Tennis Alum Lindsay Flood ’17 and Megan Edelblute ’18 returned for a home match to cheer on their former teammates and meet Richard Thies.  As seniors, Flood and Edelblute garnered recognition on and off the court, receiving the Richard Thies Service Award for their dedication to increasing access to the sport of tennis. Saxons Grab GVC Lead Over Grizzlies

  South Salem’s Women’s Tennis team moved into the Greater Valley Conference lead this afternoon with a win over McMinnville.  The Saxons move to 11-1 on the season, 6-1 in the GVC with the 5-3 victory. Facing a singles stack from the Grizzlies, South proved their strength by sweeping the 1 through 4 singles matches.

The Saxon Women’s Tennis Team beat the Bulldogs of West Albany, 5-2 Thursday afternoon.  The 8th and final match (the 4-doubles match) was cut short as a thunder and lightening storm struck nearby. South Salem’s Girls Tennis team moved to 8-0 on the season with a win against Forest Grove Tuesday Afternoon.  The Saxons topped the Vikings 6-2 overall for the team win.
